Is it okay to buy a guitar from ebay?

This might seem like a weird question, but I'm looking to buy a second guitar, and I'd rather not waste money on buying an overpriced 1st hand. I would not mind buying a 2nd hand, as they are just as good, and I couldnt care less about a few minor scratches... However, I've actually never used Ebay before... So is it wise to buy a second hand guitar on Ebay? Say for example I know exactly what guitar I want, and I've tried it out at a music shop, will the guitar that I buy off someone be as good as they say it is? Please tell me your experiences with Ebay, if you have any... I'd really like another guitar but where I live, music shops barely sell any 2nd hand ones!
