4 cyl or 6cyl truck for towing?
Make sure you have enough truck to tow. When using overdrive, you should turn off electric overdrive or downshift 1 gear until you reach highway speed to keep from shelling your transmission. It is very hard of the bands when shifting. As far as pulling a 2000 pound payload with a 4 cyl. It is going to be hard on the engine and the rear end. You can lose a pinion gear real quick towing long distance with the wrong equipment. My sister just used a 1/2 ton truck with overdrive to drag a trailer with 2 Harleys to Sturgis. The truck had to go to the shop before the trip was over. Lost transmission and rear end because they didn't know how to drive it right. Figure the difference in gas cost versus repair costs. The first time you hook up and it won't pull the way it should, you will be looking for another vehicle. Trust your gut, but make sure you have the power you need.
